Operation Salute: Soldier's Paradise
Operation Salute: Soldier’s Paradise welcomes you to an evening of Rest & Relaxation (R&R) complete with a delicious meal, an open bar, games, live music and entertainment. Kick off your shoes, dig your toes into the sand, and watch the boats in the water as you enjoy the music and sip frosty drinks. This will be a fabulous night in the "tropics" enjoying a summer evening on the water with our respected and renowned speakers. Steffan Tubbs Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Mr.Steffan Tubbs, Co-Host, Colorado's Morning News on KOA NewsRadio. Steffan is a four-time winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for national reporting and has covered major events including the 9/11 recovery from Ground Zero, the Oklahoma city bombing as well as Super Bowls and World Series coverage during his 25 years in the news industry in Los Angeles, New York and Denver. His experiences have instilled in him a passion for bringing awareness to the issues our service members face with Post Traumatic Stress and the tragedy of veteran suicides. Steffan makes meaningful documentary films, including his latest film, ACRONYM, for which he is the Executive Producer and Director. ACRONYM features extensive interviews with U.S. veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf Wars I and II, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. These are stories that must be shared and ACRONYM is an incredibly touching portrayal of life with PTSD. His topic at Operation Salute will be the importance of recognizing veterans, military suicides, and the making of his film ACRONYM. Robert Wideman We are also very excited to have Mr. Robert Wideman speak at Operation Salute. Robert is a published author and speaks professionally about his 6 years as a POW during the Vietnam War. Robert flew 134 missions in Vietnam between 1967-1973, and he retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. Robert is above all a family man, dedicated to his sons and his six grandchildren, to whom he dedicated his newly released book, Unexpected Prisoner: Memoir of a Vietnam POW. Robert’s story connects us to all our service members, past and present, and both the challenges and courage our men and women in uniform face each day.
