DESCRIPTION:LOVELAND\, CO  Jon Rietfors: Value Added will be on display at the Loveland Museum/Gallery from December 10\, 2011 through March 25\, 2012. There will be an opening reception on Friday. This reception is free and open to the public.Jon Rietfors is a conceptual artist with a taste for neo-pop. He uses photo-related techniques to create elements for mixed-media pieces that are related to painting as much as they are to photography. The artwork in this exhibition contrasts the environment with things people create from the environment. Common themes are pictures of landscapes from different parts of Colorado placed on actual consumer packaging or disposable items. By placing landscapes on these otherwise discarded items\, the items are once again given value.\n\n \n\nRietfors has exhibited his artwork in museums and galleries throughout Colorado\, New Mexico and in New York. He has been honored twice by Westword Magazine\, Best of Denver Awards. In 2007\, he received a group award for Best Showcase of Photography Trends and was listed as Best Conceptual Artist in a Group show in 2004.
