SUMMARY:International Women's Day 2015
DESCRIPTION:International Women?s Day 2015: from victim to leader is a call-to-action to engage women and girls as leaders. Although women have often been portrayed as victims of war and conflict\, not much has been given to their potential as leaders in post-conflict areas. Rwanda is a stunning example of how women have taken on leadership roles to rebuild the country and how future global efforts should follow this example by bringing women to the table. This completely free UNC community event will challenge participants to address gender disparities within our own community and examine parallels between global and local issues that require leadership and innovative thinking. Featuring the official UN exhibit on the Rwandan Genocide\, numerous community organizations\, a film screening\, and an amazing genocide survivor turned community activist\, International Women?s Day 2015 will inform\, inspire\, and unite.
