SUMMARY:Professional Boundaries: A Key Element for Effective Supervision
DESCRIPTION:Supervising others can be both rewarding and challenging. Often people in a supervisory role have gotten there because of how successful they have been in a frontline job\, yet they have very little leadership training. Additionally\, they may now be supervising their former peers which can be a particularly difficult path to navigate. There are many trainings available on how to be an effective supervisor\, but most do not focus on an extremely critical aspect of supervision: Professional boundaries. Professional boundaries are often the key to being considered a "good" supervisor versus a "bad" supervisor. Understanding boundaries\, both the obvious ones and the not-so obvious ones\, is a key element to being an effective and respected supervisor.\n\n	In this workshop we will:\n\n \n\n	* Learn the four common styles of communication\n\n \n\n	* Define "boundaries" in a work environment\n\n \n\n	* Discover how boundaries impact the ability to successfully supervise\n\n \n\n	* Learn ways to improve professional boundaries\n\n \n\n	***NOTE*** This program has been approved for 1.75 (General) recertification credit hours toward PHR\, SPHR\, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. For more information about certification or recertification\, please visit the HR Certification Institute website at www.hrci.org.\n\n \n\n	Pre-registration is required. *Schedule subject to change\, please visit www.larimerworkforce.org/business for accurate training information.
