Holding Space and Having Conversation about Immigration from the Artist Perspective
Description:Please join Jennie Milner and Maria Singleton for a discussion about our Southern border with Mexico, building connections through art, and Humanitarian Aid. We’ll discuss how art can open minds and why we all need to be involved in our own way. Jennie, an Artworks Loveland mural artist, will share her experience painting in Ajo with the International Sonoran Desert Alliance and painters from three nations. Maria is an artist and Samaritan who lives in Ajo, Arizona in the winter when the remains of migrants trying to cross the border in southern Arizona are found on the average of 1 every 3 days. Maria’s friend, Dr. Scott Warren, is facing twenty years in prison for giving water, food, and first aid to Honduran asylum seekers. We’ll talk about his trial and the trial of other humanitarians, and have a conversation about how we can all help.
