Loveland Opera Theatre presents The Ballad of Baby Doe
Loveland Opera Theatre is proud to present a new musical drama pulled from the pages of Colorado history. The Ballad of Baby Doe tells the story of Leadville silver tycoon Horace Tabor and his romance with the alluring “Baby” Doe Tabor. Their rags-to-riches-to-rags tale comes to life in this English opera, one of the most performed of all American operas, second only to Porgy and Bess. The story features lively saloon girls, scandalous Washington Politicians and gossiping society ladies, all set to the backdrop of Colorado’s beautiful Rocky Mountains. Composer Douglas Moore’s music is a combination of the best of operatic and musical theater style and brings tuneful energy to this real-life story.
This fully-staged production will be presented at the Rialto Theatre in Loveland (228 E 4th St., Loveland CO 80537) starting Friday October 13, 2023 through Sunday October 22, 2023. Friday night shows begin at 7pm and weekend shows are matinees beginning at 3pm. Regular adult admission is $48 with discounts available for seniors, students, children and groups.
