Loveland Sculpture Invitational
Loveland is home to two world-renowned outdoor exhibitions of three-dimensional artwork each summer: the Loveland Sculpture Invitational and Sculpture in the Park at Benson Sculpture Garden, both held on the same weekend in August. The Loveland Sculpture Invitational is the world’s largest outdoor sculpture show and Sculpture in the Park is heralded as one of the finest outdoor juried sculpture shows. Both shows will be held from August 11 through August 12, 2012.
The Loveland Sculpture Group, a non-profit organization, is the main sponsor of the Loveland Sculpture Invitational. Through the Loveland Sculpture Invitational, The Loveland Sculpture Group has been able to donate 30 sculptures valued at $275,000 to the Loveland community as well as $232,000 total to local art education programs and other non-profits.
Founded in 1991 by George Lundeen, Victor Issa, Thelma Weresh and Lee Stark, the Loveland Sculpture Invitational was created to expand appreciation for three dimensional arts and to support art education in local schools. The show’s growth and success can be attributed to its unwavering focus on its mission as well as to the dedicated staff and hundreds of volunteers who have served each year. The Loveland Sculpture Invitational is the nation’s largest outdoor sculpture show and hosts artists all over the country and beyond.
