News Release: 4/28/2026
Some of Northern Colorado’s best moments happen outside.
They happen under open skies, with music in the air, food in hand, and the kind of energy that builds when a community comes together.
That spirit has long had a home at The Ranch, Northern Colorado’s largest and most versatile multi-event and entertainment destination. It is where this region shows up, year after year, for events like the Larimer County Fair, rodeos, hockey games, trade shows, and everything in between.
Now, a new setting for those moments is taking shape.
Now Booking for 2026
The Event Lawn is officially open for booking events beginning mid-September 2026. With bookings now open, the space is already shifting from construction plans to future memories.
For event organizers, this new venue opens the door to a wide range of possibilities. Designed as a flexible outdoor space, the Event Lawn can accommodate
- concerts and live music events
- festivals and cultural celebrations
- fairs and large-scale community events
- sporting events and tournaments
- outdoor markets and vendor events
- corporate events and private functions
- food and beverage festivals, family-friendly programming
- seasonal events, and more.
Set within the heart of The Ranch campus, the Event Lawn offers room to scale, space to create, and the flexibility to bring new ideas to life in a way that feels both expansive and connected.

Built for the Moments That Matter
While it will feel like a wide, welcoming green space, what is being built beneath the surface is what makes everything possible.
This is not a typical lawn. It is being constructed from the ground up as an event-ready surface, with layers of geotextile fabric, aggregate base, and a specialized sand-soil blend designed to create strength and stability. An integrated underdrain system moves water efficiently through the sand-soil blend and away from the surface, helping the turf withstand weather, heavy foot traffic, and large-scale event setup.
The result is a space that can support everything from concert staging and vendor setups to carnival rides and high-energy crowds, without losing its integrity.
It looks simple. It is anything but.
Part of a Larger Vision for The Ranch
Building on the foundational improvements completed during Phase I, Phase II is focused on expanding and modernizing the campus with new facilities that enhance the guest experience, generate revenue, strengthen The Ranch’s competitiveness, and support long-term financial sustainability.
To keep The Ranch operating as improvements move forward, Phase II work is being completed in stages. Project teams and Ranch staff are working closely throughout construction to help minimize disruption to events and community activities.
The Event Lawn is the first major Phase II project now under construction and is expected to be completed in time for this year’s Fair. The next major milestone, a 6,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater, is expected to begin construction in late 2026. Additional Phase II projects remain in design alongside the Ranch Master Plan team and partners, including Perkins & Will. Major Phase II projects are expected to be completed by 2030.
Looking Ahead
Construction on the Event Lawn is expected to wrap up by July 2026, in time for this year’s Larimer County Fair.
Fairgoers can expect to see vendors, entertainment, and activity on the lawn during this year’s Fair, offering an early glimpse of how the space will begin to come alive. As with any newly established lawn, however, the turf will need time to fully set. Because of that, the carnival will remain just off to the side of the lawn this year, still close to the rest of the Fair experience. More details will be shared as the Fair gets closer.
Later in the year, a section of the easternmost portion of the Event Lawn will temporarily go offline as construction begins on the outdoor amphitheater. The majority of Event Lawn is expected to be available for events, allowing this new space to begin welcoming the community even as the next chapter at The Ranch moves forward.
Soon, this will be more than a new venue. It will be a place filled with music, energy, and community, ready to welcome Northern Colorado into its next great gathering space.
