Community leaders to come together to celebrate grand opening of
Loveland Army Career Center

Commerce will celebrate the opening of the new Loveland Army Career Center Jan. 19 from 3-5 p.m. at Palmer
Gardens.
“Loveland is a very patriotic community,” said Gutierrez, who is also a 30-year Army veteran and served on
active duty, in the Army Reserve and in the National Guard. “The Army career center will be well-received and
will offer career opportunities and choices for our youth.”
The Loveland Army Career Center, 146 E. 29th St., is committed to helping people find career opportunities
with the military and features new Army endorsed programs like March2Success, which helps young
Americans develop the skills and values they need to succeed in life through training, education, and test
preparation for the ACT, SAT and state standardized tests.
“It’s not just a job; you can also find a career,” said Karsten, station commander. Karsten has been serving in
the Army since she was 17.
“I am from a small town, and I couldn’t wait to sign up,” she said. “I had that sense of adventure.” Since
joining, Karsten has been stationed in Korea, Germany and Italy, and deployed to Kosovo and Afghanistan.
In the recovery period of a down-spiraling economy, the Loveland Army Career Center has the chance to show
what the Army has to offer. From student loan repayment to exciting jobs, recruiters like Staff Sgt. Joshua
Vine, a Colorado native and former football player for Western State, said he tries to help those who come to
him to find out about Army programs. He can relate to Colorado Army recruits and show them that careers with
the military are just as competitive in salary and bonuses.
“The Army has done a lot for me,” said Vine. “I needed to grow up and handle responsibility better than just
hang around town, and the Army helped me grow up quickly.” He said since he comes from a small town, he
wants Loveland recruits to know there’s a big world outside of Colorado.
“They can be bigger than Loveland. The Army can provide that opportunity.”
