Professional Boundaries: A Key Element for Effective Supervision
Supervising others can be both rewarding and challenging. Often people in a supervisory role have gotten there because of how successful they have been in a frontline job, yet they have very little leadership training. Additionally, they may now be supervising their former peers which can be a particularly difficult path to navigate. There are many trainings available on how to be an effective supervisor, but most do not focus on an extremely critical aspect of supervision: Professional boundaries. Professional boundaries are often the key to being considered a "good" supervisor versus a "bad" supervisor. Understanding boundaries, both the obvious ones and the not-so obvious ones, is a key element to being an effective and respected supervisor.
In this workshop we will:
* Learn the four common styles of communication
* Define "boundaries" in a work environment
* Discover how boundaries impact the ability to successfully supervise
* Learn ways to improve professional boundaries
